FAQ

FAQ

Is the course the same as last year?

Yes.. except it will be run in reverse.. start at Lyon Creek Trail parking lot than over the top and down Mcabe Trail and back to summer parking lot.

Will there be car pooling this year?

It is requested that runners meet at the old school at the start of the park access road off Telkwa High Road. If you have room please consider driving other runners in as there is very limited parking in the start finish area of the event. As was the case last year, there is only one way out of the park, and people were more than willing to drive others out after their event.

Will there be water stations?

There will be water stations as indicated on the google earth maps on web site. chemically treated water ( Pristine product ) will be offered at both stations.

Will there be first aid persons on the course?

There will be first aid members at both water stations. There will be a roving first aid team above tree line. Be aware that should a need arise for aid in an isolated setting, aid may be some time in coming to you as assistance will be on foot and dependent on radio or sat communication or old fashioned foot power.. ( with this in mind, carry what you see as a necessity to you.. i.e. Epi-pen, diabetic necessities.)

Is the trail well marked?

The trail is within a provincial park and as such is well maintained. An advance party will go through the course before the run and ensure any possible side trails are ribboned off.

Are there concerns about wildlife in the park?

As with any trip into the backwoods you should be aware that there may be the potential for a bear encounter. You might choose to bring bear spray but make yourself well versed in the dos and don’ts of a bear spray defence system.

Can I use my iPod/personal music device?

No! If you have the music turned up so loud you can’t hear the bearhuffing and puffing around the corner than bad things are likely to happen!

Will there be a post run gathering?

Yes! A salmon BBQ will be offered to those that register for the run. It is hoped the time line in place for the half marathoners will see most of the runners done by ” noonish”. The BBQ will be held at the old school.

Will there be a cutoff time for runners on the course?

In the interest of ensuring volunteers have adequate time to “sweep the course”, there will be a time line cut off of 1 PM.

What kind of swag?

This year we will be offering toques( beanies ) made of performance fabric that pulls moisture to the outside and keeps you warm and dry! They of course will be embroidered with this year’s logo.
